More about the book: When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions...and a member! They're eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they're sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: "Let's eat the monsters!"

You can place a hold online but we'll also have some copies available at the circulation desk.

The Ferndale Library and Affirmations co-host a social club/book club for kids in grades 4-8, meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the library's program room. Registration required: click here!

This is a social hour that includes a book discussion. Each month, attendees have the chance to read and then discuss a selected book at the Reading Rainbow.

Kids don't have to have finished (or even started) the book to attend the Reading Rainbow; the rest of the hour is free time dedicated to socializing/crafting/hanging out together.

        Drop-ins are always welcome!

You can pick up a copy of this month's book at the Ferndale Library or place a hold online.

On September 23, we'll be discussing Drama by Raina Telgemeier: Callie loves theater, and this year she's determined to create a set worthy of Broadway on a school budget. But how can she, when she doesn't know much about carpentry, ticket sales are down, and the crew members aren't working together? Not to mention the onstage and offstage drama that occurs, and when two cute brothers enter the picture!

ALBUM CLUB! It’s like a book club, but with MUSIC! Click here to sign up

Which albums from a certain artist's oeuvre are their definitive works? Which ones are your FAVORITES?

Calling all BLACK SABBATH fans! Join us at the CARAJILLO on Thursday, SEPTEMBER 25, at 6:30 pm, to discuss, defend, and agree-to-disagree with other music fans about what makes your favorite album or song by a selected artist their definitive ‘best!’

Album club is a way to approach and discuss music in a way similar to our book clubs & film clubs. At each meeting, we will highlight one artist from our extensive music library who has released five or more albums and discuss/debate which album of theirs reigns supreme (and why!)

Before the meeting, we invite attendees to submit their favorite track(s) from their favorite album by each month’s selected artist. From there, we’ll compile and create a playlist to listen to at the W.A.B. on the night of our event, listening to each of our pre-selected songs to hopefully foster a renewed appreciation of the artists we love, while keeping our spirited debates respectful.
