Baby Storytime will be on Fridays at 10:30 AM! Check below for exact dates.

Join us for interactive songs and simple stories that nurture your baby's curiosity and fine motor skills while providing a place for caregivers to share ideas and socialize. For families with children under 18 months old.*

It is the youth department's continued mission to offer early literacy programs that best fit children's different developmental stages. Baby Storytime will be for babies under 18 months and Family Storytime will be for young children ages 18 months-4 years old.

Storytime will be indoors in the library's Program Room.
Each scheduled Baby Storytime begins at 10:30 am

To save a spot for storytime please follow the steps below the day of the event:

  • Stop by the Atrium (West Entrance) to receive a ticket. Tickets will be available starting 15 minutes before storytime begins (10:15 AM).
  • Tickets will be handed out until 5 minutes after the scheduled start time (10:35 AM).
  • The youth librarian leading the storytime will collect the tickets upon entry to the program.
  • Once tickets run out, storytime is full. Please check back at a future storytime.

Motor Om Yoga hosts a monthly community yoga class at the Ferndale Library on the first Sunday of each month; free and open to all skill levels; registration is required.

Our next Yoga class will be on SUNDAY, MAY 4th at 10 am, held OUTDOORS (weather permitting) in the library's courtyard. Moving indoors, in case of rain. 

Motor Om is a non-profit, mobile yoga studio that will bring everything you need in a studio out into the community spaces (such as the library.)

Join us for a free, all-ages concert at the Ferndale Library, featuring Hamtramck-based singer/songwriter and blues musician The Brown Thrasher!

This event is part of an ongoing series, sponsored by the Friends of the Ferndale Library!

The Brown Thrasher is a songwriter based in Detroit. His energetic original songs for Autoharp, Banjo, and Guitar draw from pre-war blues and country traditions. His first single was produced by Danny Kroha.

Chess Club! 

An all ages drop-in Chess Club takes over our Program Room on the first Monday evening of each month!

This club is for beginning to intermediate players. No registration is required.

All-ages are welcome, but children (ages 12 & under) should be accompanied/supervised by a caregiver.

We host a monthly Board Game Club for Middle School students (grades 6-8). 

Want to beat each other up as giant monsters? Or maybe, steal treasures from the mall without saying a word? How about teaming up with other Marvel heroes to defeat the villains? Come to the Middle School Board Game Club, where you'll learn and play awesome board games!

This club will meet monthly on the second Thursday of each month to learn & play new board games together
