About

Ferndale’s Youth Librarians partnered with Ferndale Department of Public Works and Ferndale Parks and Recreation to coordinate the installation of a Story Trail at Martin Road Park.

A Story Trail is a great way to encourage exploration of outdoor spaces and grow a love of reading through stories. You can find our Story Trail starting along the west side of the park running north from Woodward Heights down toward the Detroit Curling Club. Families can enjoy the outdoors as they continue along the paved trail via interactive prompts while reading a picture book.

Starting February 2026 you'll find along the trail: Waiting for Hanami words by J.P. Takahashi and art by HifuMiyo.
