Juvenile Zines:
The Juvenile Zine Collection features zines created by patrons, individual artists, and professional publishers.
Materials range from how-to guides on bookbinding or papermaking to poetry collections to locally made comics. Zines acquired through purchase focus on local interests and requests.
Building Our Collection:
This collection was born out of the desire to find a way to include patrons’ work on the library’s shelves. In the summer of 2022, Zine Workshops began running quarterly at the library. These workshops provide patrons with access to zine-making supplies and the option to donate their work to the library.
The purpose of maintaining this collection is to empower library users to create and contribute within the library environment. Including zines in the library space also aims to diversify the voices featured in our collections and help young patrons and local creators see themselves represented on the shelves.
Zine Kits!
Zine Kits are a fun and engaging craft kit activity for ages 5+.
Unleash your creativity and craft your own zines at home with our supplies and scrap paper. Plus, you have the exciting opportunity to contribute your completed zine to our library's circulating collection!
These kits will be available periodically throughout the year, in January, June, and September.
FYI: Kits will be available for pick-up next to the Zine Collection in the Kids Corner; limit one per person, please!
Zine Workshops
If you're inspired to continue creating Zines, we host a quarterly Family Zine Workshop in February, June, September, and November. Our Family Zine Workshop is open to ages 6-15, with the option for caregivers to participate. This program is for Ages 6-15 (+ Caregivers can also participate)! The library provides supplies, but registration is required. All participants can add a copy of their zine to the library's circulating Zine Collection.
