The Ferndale Library and Affirmations cohost a social club/book club for kids in grades 4-8, meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 6:00 pm in the library's program room.
This is a social hour with a book discussion included. Each month, attendees have the chance to read and then discuss a selected book at the Reading Rainbow.
At our next meeting on JUNE 24, we'll talk about Sir Callie and the Champions of Helston by Esme Symes-Smith.
Kids don't have to have finished (or even started) the book to attend the Reading Rainbow; the rest of the hour is free time dedicated to socializing/crafting/hanging out together.
Drop-Ins are always welcome!
You can pick up a copy of this month's book at the Ferndale Library or place a hold online.
About the book: In a magical medieval world filled with dragons, shape-shifters, and witches, a twelve-year-old nonbinary hopeful knight battles for the heart of their kingdom. This USA Today bestselling series explores identity and gender amid sword fights and magic, and proves anyone can be a hero.

Our monthly book club, in partnership with the Ferndale Project, meets on the last Tuesday of each month. This event is hosted AT the Ferndale Project at 567 Livernois.
Join us for an in-person book club event discussing Greta & Valdin by Rebecca K. Reilly, on TUESDAY, JUNE 24 at 6:30 PM.
Sign Up HERE!
We'll have a few copies reserved at the Ferndale Library circulation desk or you can place a hold online! It's also available as an ebook on Hoopla. We'll also have copies at the circulation desk.
About the book:This beguiling and hilarious novel by Rebecca Reilly owes as much to Shakespeare as it does to Tinder. Set in a world that is deeply familiar (but also a bit sexier and more stylish than the real one), Greta and Valdin will speak to anyone who has had their heart broken.
